Zlatan Ibrahimovic slams English critics

Zlatan Ibrahimovic hopes that his four-goal haul in the 4-2 win over England has silenced some of his English critics.

Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic has blasted English fans for doubting his ability after his starring performance against England on Wednesday.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker scored four times, including a wonder goal, as the hosts came from behind to beat Roy Hodgson's side 4-2 in Stockholm.

While many from mainland Europe have lauded the 31-year-old's talent, some British sources have labelled the forward as a player who fails to deliver on the big stage.

However, Ibrahimovic believes that he has answered his critics and that his performance could make him the best player in the world.

"That's the way it is with the English. If you score against them you're a good player, if you don't score against them you're not a good player," said Ibrahimovic.

"I remember Lionel Messi before the 2009 Champions League final for Barcelona. Then he scored against Manchester United and suddenly he was the best player in the world. Maybe now they'll say something like that about me.

"Hart was a long way out and I was just trying to get it into the goal. I was on the ground when it was on the way in. I saw a defender sliding in to try to get rid of it and I wanted to scream 'No' but the ball went in."

Ibrahimovic has scored 10 goals in 10 for PSG so far this season.
