Great Britain's 400m freestyle bronze medallist Rebecca Adlington has said that she is "so pleased" with her medal, despite not retaining her gold from Beijing four years ago.
Adlington just scraped into the final with the eighth-fastest time in her heat, but swum brilliantly in the final to take third.
"I am crying because it is so overwhelming," she told BBC Sport.
"The crowd was amazing. It is what got me from fourth to third. I know people wanted me to get a gold, but I am just so pleased."
Adlington will compete in her stronger event, the 800m freestyle, when the heats start on Thursday.
