Ashley Yeoman has admitted his "relief" after signing a new one-year contract with Torquay United.
The striker, who played a key role in their bid to remain in League Two last season, will now remain with the club until at least the end of next campaign.
"The first emotion to being offered a new deal is probably relief because you never know what's going to happen, especially as we had a change of manager as well," he told the club's official website.
"It was quite nerve-wracking for all of us because we had meetings with the manager after the season had ended and I was obviously very pleased to be offered a new deal.
"He got straight to the point and said he was looking forward to working with me for another year. For myself, I obviously want to play as many games as possible and hopefully start on a more regular basis."
The 21-year-old has been with Torquay since 2008.
