Sports Mole guides you through all the breaking transfer news and gossip on Saturday, January 17.

Welcome to Sports Mole's live transfer blog on Saturday, January 17.

We are now just over halfway through the winter window, meaning that teams up and down the country now have just a couple of weeks to get their squads ready for the remainder of the season.

We've seen some big deals go through already, and the spending will only speed up as deadline day approaches.

Here, we will keep you updated with all the latest gossip and completed deals as and when they emerge throughout the day.

Good morning all and welcome to Sports Mole's live transfer blog. Yesterday saw the long-running Jermain Defoe deal concluded as the former Tottenham Hotspur man finally completed his move to Gus Poyet's Sunderland. He could be pivotal in the Black Cats push for Premier League survival, and it all begins today as Sunderland travel to White Hart Lane to face Defoe's former club.

As always, we will provide regular updates throughout the day to ensure that you don't miss any transfer news or gossip.

One to keep an eye on today could be Everton striker Samuel Eto'o. Speculation linking the former Cameroon international with a move to Italian side Sampdoria is gathering pace, with reports suggesting Eto'o is keen on a return to Italy. Could that move be confirmed today? Stick with Sports Mole to find out.
There's fresh news regarding the futures of Mario Balotelli, Jackson Martinez and Alvaro Arbeloa, as well as confirmation of a few done deals you may have missed including young Chelsea striker Islam Feruz's loan move to Blackpool, all neatly rounded up in one place as part of our first Transfer Talk Update of the day.
In a bid to end Liverpool's struggle for goals, reports are suggesting that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is considering launching a January move for Sevilla striker Kevin Gameiro.

The French international, who scored 15 goals in La Liga last season but has managed only two so far this term, is thought to be valued at around £10m by the Spanish club.

Some interesting news here for West Ham United fans. Ricard Vaz Te, who scored the winning goal in the 2012 Championship playoff final to secure promotion back to the Premier League, has confirmed that he has left Upton Park after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Vaz Te has now joined Turkish Super Lig side Akhisar Belediyespor, who are managed by none other than Roberto Carlos.

A couple of bits of European transfer news for you now. Firstly, Genoa's diminutive Greek international winger Ioannis Fetfatzidis is reportedly being targeted by Chievo Verona, who currently sit 16th in Serie A.

Secondly, World Cup finals record goalscorer Miroslav Klose is thought to be eyeing a move to the MLS after growing frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities at the Stadio Olimpico.

Right, that's all from me this morning. I'll now pass things over to Darren Plant, who will take you through the next few hours.
Thanks Joe! Morning everyone. I will start off my stint by bringing you the news that Liverpool have allowed midfielder Suso to departed Anfield to link up with AC Milan on a long-term deal. The 21-year-old's only appearance this season came in a League Cup tie with Middlesbrough.
Last month, reports emerged that defender Martin Montoya was keen to leave Barcelona due to a lack of first-team action, and although that has improved during the turn of the year, it appears that the 23-year-old hasn't had a change of heart. Liverpool and Juventus have recently been linked with his signature. Read more by clicking here.
Bursaspor aren't usually involved in too many high-profile transfer battles but it appears as though they could have a fight on their hands to keep hold of promising midfielder Ozan Tufan. The father of the 19-year-old has claimed that a selection of top European clubs have shown an interest in his son's signature.
The future of Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao is one that has been widely debated over the past seven days, and it appears as though Sevilla are ready to test the water with an offer at the end of the season. Click here to read more.
They may be struggling in Serie A but Parma are reportedly ready to launch a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Etienne Capoue, who has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season, with an approach already said to have been made by the Serie A side.
On that note, I will pass you over to Jack Prescott, who will take you through the next couple of hours. Enjoy!
Hello there! Right, let's get a bit of reaction to Jermain Defoe's move to Sunderland. Paul Merson believes that Queens Park Rangers may regret not signing former England international Jermain Defoe. The 32-year-old returned to the Premier League yesterday afternoon by joining Sunderland following a brief stint in the MLS with Toronto.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that Yaya Toure is committed to the club amid fresh doubts over the midfielder's future. The 31-year-old claimed on Friday that he was unsure where he would be playing his football next season.
West Ham United have reportedly handed a one-week trial to Marcus Nilsson. The one-capped Sweden international has recently become a free agent following his release by Kalmar FF.
Ravel Morrison has reportedly not yet decided whether to complete his proposed move from West Ham United to Lazio this summer. The midfielder will be out of contract at the end of the season, leading the Italian side to send officials to London to meet with the 21-year-old earlier this week.
Kevin Bru is reportedly on the verge of extending his contract with Ipswich Town. The Mauritian arrived at Portman Road following a successful trial period during the summer.
Robbie Savage has encouraged Darren Fletcher to depart Manchester United during this month's transfer window. It had been reported earlier in the week that the Scotland international, who has made only four Premier League starts this season, was a target of West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis.
That's all from me for this afternoon, but Kristian Johnson will now be with you for the next few hours to keep you up to date with all of the latest news and gossip from the January transfer window. Enjoy!
Thanks Jack! Although there is plenty of action from around the country to bring your way this afternoon, we'll still be keeping you up to date with all the latest transfer stories. Meanwhile, don't forget to check out Sports Mole's live coverage from around the grounds.
A couple of done deals from League Two in the past hour or so. Firstly, Cambridge United have tied down defender Greg Taylor to a new contract which will run the to the end of the 2016-17 season. Elsewhere, York City have allowed goalkeeper Jason Mooney to join Conference side Alfreton Town on loan until the end of the season.
There's also some news from north of the border, with Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara reacting angrily to Ronnie Deila's remarks that Gary Mackay-Steven wanted to join the Hoops before the end of the season. I have a feeling that we may hear a little more on that story in the coming days...
Some positive news in a disappointing season thus far for Borussia Dortmund, with sporting director Michael Zorc saying that the club want to keep Marco Reus at the club "for the long haul".
A little closer to home, 36-year-old left-back Jamie McAllister has joined Exeter City on a free transfer following a short stint in India with the Kerala Blasters.
Championship leaders Bournemouth have been having a whale of a time so far this season and they've just received some more welcome news as Harry Arter has signed a contract extension with the club.
Yeovil Town have bolstered their ranks with the loan signing of Swansea City youngster Liam Shephard. The 20-year-old defender didn't sign in time to make the squad to face Bradford City today though.
Another youngster on the move is Shrewsbury's 18-year-old goalkeeper Callum Burton, who has linked up with non-league Southport on a one-month loan deal.
One player who will be without a club on Monday is Birmingham City's Guy Moussi. The club have confirmed that they will not be extending the midfielder's short-term deal.
Toronto have have just completed the signing of Jozy Altidore, but it seems as though they are keen on adding another forward to their ranks with reports linking them with a move for Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco.
Celtic manager Ronny Deila has quashed rumours linking Kris Commons with a move away from the club by saying that they "want to keep him".
Luka Modric has impressed under Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid, but reports have suggested that the midfielder could be considering a move as his wife has struggled to adapt to life in the Spanish capital.
That's all from me today, but before I go I shall leave you with this evening's comprehensive Transfer Talk Update. Don't go anywhere though, as Mark Langshaw is here to take you through to 11pm tonight!
Thanks, Kristian. I'll be here until 11pm bringing you all of tonight's transfer updates as they happen, starting with the news that Crystal Palace midfielder Ghassimu Sow has signed for Conference South outfit Farnborough on a month's loan. Read the full story here.
One club that may not be recruiting in January is Tottenham Hostspur, as manager Mauricio Pochettino has declared that he would rather promote from within than turn to the transfer market. Read his comments here.

Fulham boss Kit Symons has moved to dispel speculation surrounding the future of Bryan Ruiz, insisting that the Costa Rican is "committed" to the club. Potential interested parties have circled the player as his contract comes to an end this summer.
Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has admitted that the club is in talks with an unnamed Premier League outfit over the sale of striker Rudy Gestede. The Frenchman, who has bagged 12 goals this season, has been linked with West Bromwich Albion.
How about a quick recap on all of the day's biggest transfer news? You can find that with our latest Transfer Talk Update here.
An update from the managerial merry-go-round for you as John Carver has conceded that he is out of the frame to take the Newcastle United job on a permanent basis following the 2-1 defeat to Southampton. Carver has maintained his interest in landing the full-time role until now.
Sticking with Newcastle United, reports suggest that Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is planning to return to his old stomping ground to swoop for Papiss Cisse. You can read the full story here.

We have news of potential bids for Joel Campbell and Gareth Bale coming up, but I'm coming to the end of my stint on the transfer news desk, so I'll have to hand you over to my esteemed colleague Chris O'Keefe, who will bring you those stories and more until 2am.
Thank you Mark! Yes, we'll bring updates on the futures of both Campbell and Bale in the next few minutes. If you want to catch up on the best of the headlines from today in the transfer market, then I heartily recommend Sports Mole's Transfer Talk Update. So to news on Joel Campbell first...
Campbell's future with Arsenal has been in doubt for some time and the Costa Rican has regularly been linked with a move away from the Emirates. Now it appears that Real Sociedad areplotting a loan deal for the 22-year-old and manager David Moyes will push Arsene Wenger for an answer regarding Campbell in the coming days.
Now to the future of one Gareth Bale. Reports this evening suggest that Manchester United are not giving up in their pursuit of the world's most expensive player. The Red Devils are willing to offer David De Gea as part of the deal for Bale.

United are believed to value De Gea at around £50m while a mooted deal for the Welshman is rumoured to be a bid of £50m plus De Gea. How many more transfer records are left for Bale to break?

Arsenal are rumoured to be rekindling their pursuit of Croatian international Marcelo Brozovic. According to reports, the Gunners have tabled a £5m bid, having had an offer turned down during the summer.
Meanwhile, one club who are likely to be busy in the transfer market very soon are League One strugglers Scunthorpe United. Why? Well, both goalkeeper Sam Slocombe and substitute Jamie Severn was forced off through injury in the first half of their 2-0 defeat against Bristol City, which is a freak coincidence in itself!

However, both shot-stoppers appear have suffered broken arms. Defender Andy Boyce was left to don the glove (and possibly a pre-emptive plaster cast) for the remainder of the game.

Manchester United have been linked with a number of players this month, including Mr Bale as we mentioned earlier.

However, United are said to be shelving their plans for a spending spree in January and will keep their powder dry until the summer before they try again with bids for the likes of Kevin Strootman and Mats Hummels.

Across Manchester and City boss Manuel Pellegrini is refuses to dismiss the possibility of a future bid for Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Messi's future hasn't been completely certain since Luis Enrique became manager of the Catalan giants, but with City having former Barca boardroom players Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain in their corner, the story won't away while the Chilean also hinted that the Blues have the spending power to lure the Argentine attacker.

Last night, we told you that Everton striker Samuel Eto'o was close to leaving the Toffees for Serie A side Sampdoria. According to reports this evening, the Blues could save around £6m in wages if the Cameroon star leaves as expected.
Part of Everton's thinking in allowing Eto'o to leave may be that the striker is believed to be close to activating an automatic one-year contract extension and earns £80,000 a week at Goodison Park.

However, Eto'o could be taking a pay cut of around £55,000 a week to push the deal through.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis has been linked with a move for West Ham winger Matt Jarvis. The 28-year-old has made only six appearances for the Hammers this season and reports claim that he will be allowed to leave for the right price.
Pulis may miss out on another target in the mid-season window, however, with Crystal Palace reportedly ready to complete a deal for Blackburn Rovers' Rudy Gestede.

The Benin international has scored 12 goals for the Lancashire club so far this season, but manager Gary Bowyer admitted that his star player was likely to leave Ewood Park.

Manchester United have featured heavily in tonight's Transfer Talk, but the club are reportedly looking to renegotiate the £43m deal they agreed with Monaco for Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian has struggled to find his scoring touch with the Red Devils and has left his future with the club in doubt as a result.

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have opened talks with Harry Kane over an improved contract. Kane only signed a new deal last summer, but Spurs see the 21-year-old as an important part of their long-term planning and want to bring his wages in line with the club's top earners.
Sticking with Spurs, the Lilywhites are thought to have reignited their pursuit of Yevhen Konoplyanka. The Ukraine winger had been linked with a £20m move to Liverpool 12 months ago before the deal collapsed on deadline day.

However, the winger may be available for just £7m, with his contract due to run out in the summer.

Unfortunately, our day at Transfer Talk Live has come to an end.
