Sampdoria midfielder Angelo Palombo has rejected the chance to join Rubin Kazan this summer.
Palombo played for Inter Milan on loan in the second half of last season and has been linked with a move away from Genoa, with Juventus said to be interested in the 30-year-old.
However, it appears that Rubin were the first club to make a formal bid for the Italian, the Secolo XIX newspaper reporting that the Russian outfit offered Palombo a deal worth €3.2m (£2.5m).
Palombo, though, has turned down the offer, according to Sampdoria's sporting director.
"Yes, I can confirm these negotiations existed and that the player turned down the proposal," said Pasquale Sensibile.
Sampdoria will play in Serie A this season after gaining promotion from the Italian second division in 2011-12.
