How Ukraine could line up against Netherlands

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Ukraine could line up for Sunday's Euro 2020 clash with the Netherlands.

Andriy Shevchenko will be tossing and turning as to whether to match up with forthcoming opponents Netherlands' 3-5-2 system on Sunday, or opt for the 4-3-3 formation which he has used more recently.

The 44-year-old utilised a three-man defence in his side's three World Cup qualifiers in March, impressively gaining a 1-1 draw against Euro 2020 favourites France in the process.

As such, we are inclined to believe that he may approach Sunday's contest in a more cautious manner, before potentially reverting to a back four against North Macedonia and Austria.

That would mean wingers such as Oleksandr Zubkov and West Ham United's Andriy Yarmolenko potentially missing out from the start, with Atalanta BC's Ruslan Malinovskyi supporting Gent striker Roman Yaremchuk in attack.

No player made more assists than Malinovskyi in Serie A last season, so much of the creative burden is likely to fall on the 28-year-old's shoulders.

Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko will take up his preferred midfield role as he generally does for his country, with Vitaliy Mykolenko lining up at left wing-back.

Ukraine possible starting lineup: Bushchan; Karavayev, Zabarnyi, Kryvtsov, Matviyenko, Mykolenko; Shaparenko, Sydorchuk, Zinchenko; Malinovskyi, Yaremchuk
