Diego Forlan "comfortable" with midfield role

Uruguay's Diego Forlan says that he is comfortable playing a midfield role for his country.

Diego Forlan has confirmed that he is "comfortable" playing behind the strikers for Uruguay in the Confederations Cup.

The striker dropped into a more midfield role during Uruguay's 2-1 win over Nigeria in Brazil yesterday, which earned him his 100th cap for the country.

The 34-year-old told FIFA.com: "It might sound like a cliche but I can honestly say now that I feel comfortable in any position, including the one I played in [yesterday], further out on the left and trying to set play up more.

"Obviously I'm comfortable about having the chance, at my age, to play a little bit further back, especially as we've got two fantastic strikers and because they're younger than me. It's good because it's less of a chore for me to get back into midfield from there.

"There's no hiding the fact, it's great to experience nights like this again. When you reach my age, you never know how many you've got left."

Uruguay play their final group game of the tournament against Tahiti on Sunday.
