Swansea City manager Garry Monk has admitted that his side made too many mistakes in their 3-0 pre-season loss at home to Villarreal.
The result could have been worse had it not been for a string of impressive saves by Lukasz Fabianski late on, but Monk has backed his side to be better once the competitive football starts next week.
"It was disappointing in terms of the result," Monk told the club's official website. "We didn't play how we wanted to but during pre-season we have been working on a number of different things, so it was never going to be a completely fluid performance.
"We made too many mistakes and the decision-making was poor. We played against a very good side and that is something that we are aspiring to work towards.
"But we'll take the lessons from this game and take them forward into the season."
Swansea begin their league campaign away at Manchester United next Saturday in a 12.45pm kickoff.
