Chris Coleman: 'Wales have become complacent'

Wales manager Chris Coleman admits that complacency may have crept into his side since their qualification for Euro 2016.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has hinted that his side have become complacent since qualifying for Euro 2016.

The Dragons will be appearing in their first major international tournament for 58 years this summer, but since booking their place in France they have drawn with Northern Ireland and been beaten by both Netherlands and Ukraine.

Star player Gareth Bale has already set his sights on going all the way having helped Real Madrid to Champions League success last weekend, and Coleman is keen to see more of that ambition.

"I thought 'cheers for that, a semi-final just will not do'. But in all seriousness that is the mentality we want. The mentality of achievement," he told reporters.

"Since we qualified if you look at our results it is nothing to shout about. We went through a run of results where we were almost unbeatable, but we have tailed off a bit. I'm not making any excuses - we haven't had this one, we haven't had that one.

"It's international football, you get on with it, but sometimes with success comes a little bit of complacency. Subconsciously sometimes, but we are our best when we are right on it."

Wales have been drawn in a group alongside England, Russia and Slovakia and will get their campaign underway against the latter on June 11.
