West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he has given his players a four-day rest ahead of their Premier League match with Manchester City this weekend.
The Hammers confirmed their safety with a 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday and only returned to training on Thursday.
"It was a little motivation by me before the game – beat Tottenham and you will have a few days off to spend with your family and get ready for this day," Allardyce is quoted as saying by The Mirror.
"We had lost four on the trot. I wanted to make sure our last home game would be something we could all enjoy and remember. It was a little teaser for the lads.
"You don't need any training now. We can't be any fitter than we are. We can rest and come back in fresh."
West Ham are currently 12th in the Premier League table, with 40 points from their 37 games this season.
