Sam Allardyce: 'I have achieved targets'

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce claims that he has achieved the targets that he was set at the beginning of the season.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has claimed that he has achieved the targets that he was set at the beginning of the season.

The Hammers have finished the campaign in 13th place in the Premier League table, but Allardyce has been booed by his own fans despite leading the club to safety.

"We've had no real threat of relegation for a while," The Mirror quotes Allardyce as saying. "We've won seven out of the last 15, which is nearly a 50% win rate. So we've pulled ourselves out of the bottom three in the league and finished 13th.

"We've got 14 clean sheets. I suppose the problem is when you have your best run at the end of the season rather than at the beginning. Our best run last season was in the beginning of the season when we got 15 or 16 points in the first 10 games and were never really threatened with relegation.

"This year, we've had it at the end rather than in the beginning so the pressure has been on us. The lads have withstood the pressure and we are established in the Premier League for the second season on the trot, exactly where I was asked to get us to be."

West Ham suffered a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City in their last match of the season on Sunday.
