Slaven Bilic: Norwich City draw "a fair result"

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic says that his side deserved a point from a dramatic 2-2 draw with Norwich City on Saturday.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has said that a draw was a fair result after his side struck in injury-time to deny Norwich City victory at Upton Park.

Cheikhou Kouyate equalised in the 93rd minute as the Hammers missed the chance to leapfrog Manchester City into second in the table by failing to win at home in the Premier League for the third time in four games this season.

Despite his side coming within seconds of losing the match, Bilic is adamant that they deserved a share of the points in a game that he commended for its drama.

"I would like to congratulate both sets of players for playing good football and creating a lot of chances in a typical English quality game," he told reporters.

"I am trying to be objective. A draw was a fair result and they are probably gutted because of the timing of the last goal. We could have won, we could have lost. I am sure that myself and the Norwich manager would not be happy with certain aspects.

"For the first 20 minutes they were the better team but we got better and better. Norwich did well to respond to that. I am happy that we showed the character at the end and we deserved it. We are never happy when we don't win at home but we respect the point."

"I am proud of the players because they showed character and quality. We are third in the table, and we know we can still improve. That is the most important thing for me."

Next up for the Hammers is a trip to bottom side Sunderland next Saturday.
