West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has conceded that his team deserved to lose against Swansea City on Saturday.
Victory for the Hammers would have kept them in contention for a top-four finish in the Premier League entering their final matches, but they lost 4-1 on home soil to the Welsh outfit.
Bilic has congratulated Swansea on their victory and admitted that his team "had too many passengers".
"We have to congratulate them and they deserved to win. In basic situations we were second best. We had too many passengers. We had a great opening 20 minutes and everyone was waiting for us to score. But they took the lead and added another one," Bilic told reporters.
"They put it to bed with the third goal. The way we defended was not good enough today and that is the biggest reason behind why we lost."
West Ham will return to action at home to fourth-placed Manchester United on Tuesday night.
