West Ham United midfielder Jack Collison has admitted that it felt "great" to play his first match of the season on Monday.
The Welsh international has not played since May because of a knee injury but after he made his return during a development squad fixture on Monday, Collison is hoping to continue his return to fitness in the upcoming weeks.
Collison told the club's official website: "It was great to be back out there again.
"I am obviously a little bit rusty, but I have ticked a box by completing 45 minutes and hopefully it will be onwards and upwards from there.
"I loved it. It was great to be playing football again, even though it was not the best conditions out there."
Collison has scored 11 goals in 87 appearances for the Hammers.
