West Ham United left-back Patrice Evra says that he wants to help create more leaders at the troubled club.

West Ham United left-back Patrice Evra has claimed that he wants to help "create more leaders" in the dressing room.

The club have made headlines over the last few days due to the unsavoury scenes that descended onto the London Stadium pitch at the weekend.

During the Hammers' 3-0 defeat to Burnley, four separate pitch invaders disrupted the game, while fans also turned on co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold while the pair were in the directors' box.

In response to the incidents, the East London outfit have vowed to issue lifetime bans to supporters found guilty of pitch invading or throwing missiles.

With regards to matters on the field, Evra, who joined the club on a free transfer in February, has claimed that he wants to be an example to the younger players coming through.

"It's a massive responsibility. That's my character as well," the Daily Mail quotes the Frenchman as saying. "Before you can say anything to younger players and guide them with your words, you have to show them the good examples, like working hard in training and doing your job in the games.

"I like that kind of responsibility because I am not someone that has anything to prove, but when you're in a leadership position the most important thing to do is create more leaders around you."

The team are currently at a warm-weather training camp in Miami.
