Sir Geoff Hurst has been "pleasantly surprised" by the signings made by West Ham United during the summer transfer window.
The 73-year-old believes that the club have strengthened well in an effort to stay in the Premier League before the club's move to the Olympic Stadium, and is hoping for a good season under new manager Slaven Bilic.
However, the World Cup winner admitted that he had not heard of Michail Antonio before the winger's £7m move to the London club on deadline day.
Hurst told the London Evening Standard: "I'm quite pleasantly surprised. Re-signing Song again on loan is a good move.
"Already Payet looks good, Kouyate from last year looks terrific. Quite a high percentage of the people they've bought are performing quite well. Looking at the players they've signed, it looks very positive."
West Ham United, who have taken six points from their first four games, will take on Newcastle United at home a week on Monday.
