West Ham United assistant manager Neil McDonald has revealed that the club are "concerned" over the welfare of Guy Demel after the defender was injured during the 2-0 away win against Cardiff City.
The 32-year-old went to the ground in the early stages of the encounter this afternoon and required oxygen before being stretchered off the field.
United later confirmed via their Twitter page that the Cote d'Ivorie international had been taken to hospital, and McDonald claims that the staff are worried for the player's well-being.
He told reporters after the match: "It looks like Demel took a whack on head. We're a little bit concerned about that, but I'm sure he's in good hands."
Sam Allardyce's men climbed out of the relegation zone in the Premier League table, with Carlton Cole firing the visitors into a 1-0 lead before Mark Noble secured the victory in the dying stages.
