West Ham suffered a 2-1 loss against A-League side Wellington Phoenix in their pre-season friendly in New Zealand.
Two first-half goals from Phoenix sealed the victory as Sam Allardyce's side failed to convert all their pressure into goals.
Phoenix's captain Andrew Durante scored his side their first goal after some sloppy defending from the Hammers, which left Durante all alone to nod in from a set piece.
West Ham had no reply and it got worse for them before the half-hour mark as Alex Gorrin ran at the Londoners' defence and converted from outside of the box into the bottom.
Allardyce's side failed to take their chances but new signing Mauro Zarate scored in the 71st minute to regain some hope as the Hammers looked on for an equaliser.
Phoenix held on for an impressive win over the Premier League team, who will next play Sydney FC next on their pre-season tour Down Under.
