West Ham United have ended a difficult season on a high note thanks to a 3-1 victory over Everton in Sunday's Premier League finale at the London Stadium.

The hosts began brightly, Marko Arnautovic and Mark Noble both coming close in the opening 10 minutes as the latter forced a smart save from Jordan Pickford.

Joao Mario was next to try his luck, dragging a shot just wide of Everton's post in the 26 minutes, while at the other end, Oumar Niasse twice tested Adrian just after the half-hour mark.

The deadlock was eventually broken on 39 minutes when Cheikhou Kouyate's dangerous pass was missed by Arnautovic but fell right into the path of Manuel Lanzini, who stroked home across goal.

West Ham then doubled their lead in the 63rd minute through Arnautovic, who shrugged off Michael Keane, turned towards goal then rifled into the back of the net from 25 yards.

Although Niasse halved the deficit on 75 minutes with a close-range finish following a scramble from a corner, David Moyes's side restored their advantage seven minutes from time, Lanzini getting the better of Seamus Coleman and curling home.

The final whistle saw West Ham secure a 13th-placed finish in the Premier League table, while Everton end their campaign eighth in the standings.
