West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that the club have held initial talks with Rangers over a possible move for striker Nikica Jelavic.
The Hammers recently failed in a bid to capture Huddersfield Town forward Jordan Rhodes.
"We have enquired in terms of his availability as far as I am concerned, but in terms of a bid that's not my department," said Allardyce.
Jelavic, who has scored 14 goals this season for Rangers, moved to Ibrox from Rapid Vienna in summer 2010 for £4m.
