West Ham United are reportedly nearing a deal for former Stoke City striker John Carew.
The 31-year-old had been named as a possible replacement for Premier League target Carlton Cole, prompting Hammers boss Sam Allardyce to confirm that talks were ongoing on Friday.
However, those talks appear to have concluded as Carew is undergoing a medical at Upton Park, according to Sky Sports News.
The Norwegian international, who signed for Aston Villa in 2007 for a fee of £5m, leaves on a free after seeing out his contract with the club.
