McKenna's magic man? Ipswich, West Ham 'could open their doors' for CL winner

West Ham United and Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in signing Galatasaray attacker Hakim Ziyech in January.

The 31-year-old made the high-profile switch from Chelsea to the Istanbul club over the summer of 2023 on a loan deal for the 2023-24 campaign.

Ziyech enjoyed a productive first season on the books of the Turkish giants, scoring eight goals across 23 competitive appearances for Okan Buruk's troops before joining permanently as a free agent.

However, the winger has fallen down the pecking order in forward areas for Galatasaray this season, earning just 147 minutes of Turkish Super Lig action.

The form of Victor Osimhen and Yunus Akgun has kept Ziyech scrambling for first-team opportunities, although that could all change as the end of 2024 approaches.

West Ham, Ipswich among clubs keen on Ziyech?

According to Moroccan outlet H24 Info, former Chelsea attacker Ziyech could be set for a sensational move back to England during the January transfer window.

The report claims that Premier League sides West Ham and Ipswich are eyeing up ambitious swoops for the services of the 31-year-old in the New Year.

It is understood that a number of Spanish and Italian clubs are also keen on the signature of Ziyech, including Real Sociedad, Girona and Como.

Speaking ahead of the January trading point, Galatasaray boss Buruk stated that the Moroccan winger is edging towards an exit from the club.

Ziyech is said to be unhappy at Cimbom due to his lack of first-team opportunities, meaning that a New Year transfer to the Premier League is on the cards.

Change of approach from Ipswich

Ipswich's reported interest in former Champions League winner Ziyech represents a major change of transfer strategy in the East Anglian club's boardroom.

The Tractor Boys targeted a host of stars from the Championship during the summer window, including Liam Delap and Sammie Szmodics, the only two players to find the net more than once in the top flight so far.

A player of Ziyech's pedigree would stand out like a sore thumb at Portman Road, although that does not translate to immediate success on the pitch as Ipswich aim to stave off relegation. body check tags ::
