Newcastle United have reportedly tabled a bid for West Ham United defender James Tomkins.
The England Under-21 international has been linked with a move to a number of Premier League clubs during this month's transfer window and the Magpies have now offered in the region of £4m for Tomkins, according to the Daily Star.
Alan Pardew's side are struggling for defensive options as they are without Steven Taylor for the rest of the season due to injury.
Newcastle currently hold seventh position in the Premier League.
