West Ham United have completed the signing of centre-back Nayef Aguerd from Rennes on a five-year-contract.
The 26-year-old joins the Hammers for a fee believed to be in the region of £30m and becomes David Moyes's first signing of the summer window.
Aguerd will wear the number 27 shirt and will provide competition for fellow centre-backs Kurt Zouma, Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop at the London Stadium.
Speaking to the club's official website on his arrival, Aguerd said: "I was really excited when I heard about West Ham United's interest. When I heard about it, I knew I needed to go to the Premier League, because it's a dream for every player.
"West Ham is a historic club. I saw a few of their games this year, and I saw the fans and the atmosphere were fantastic, with the bubbles!
"I talked with the manager and he showed me that he was very interested, so it was easy to choose to come to West Ham."
Moyes added: "I am delighted to welcome Nayef to West Ham United. We have tracked his progress for some time and I'm very pleased that we have been able to complete the signing. He's a great addition that will add to our defensive options.
"I have been really impressed with Nayef's character and attitude during our discussions. He has a great desire to improve and be successful, and I am sure he will fit in very well to the environment we have at Rush Green."
Aguerd began his career in his native Morocco before moving to France where he played for Ligue 1 duo Dijon and Rennes.
The 25-cap Morocco international was a valuable member of Bruno Genesio's Rennes squad over the last two years and made a total of 80 appearances across all competitions, helping the club qualify for the Europa League last season with a fourth-place finish in the French top flight.
Aguerd could make his West Ham debut against Premier League champions Manchester City on the opening day of the new season on August 7.
