West Ham United have expressed an interest in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to reports.
The 25-year-old, who was part of the Portugal squad that won Euro 2016, came through the youth system at Sporting before making his first-team debut in 2011.
According to the Evening Standard, the Hammers are preparing a club-record £25m bid for Carvalho, who is thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League.
However, the report suggests that any deal is subject to West Ham offloading several players to balance the books, with Sofiane Feghouli and Robert Snodgrass among those rumoured to be close to leaving the London Stadium.
Carvalho, who made 32 appearances for Sporting last season, has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United in the past.
