Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has spoken of his delight after seeing his side win their first match of the season 4-0 against Barnsley.
Goals from Ben Watson, Grant Holt, Leon Barnett and Shaun Maloney ensured victory for the FA Cup holders on their return to the Championship.
"I think from start to finish I was delighted with the quality of the team," Coyle told Sky Sports News.
"We scored four great goals and could have scored more. We aren't getting carried away. It's only one game and the Championship is a marathon.
Coyle also praised his new signing Holt, who scored on his debut for the Latics.
"He has got that poacher's instinct and we felt it was a fantastic piece of business to bring him to the club," said Coyle.
Wigan will face Manchester United in the Community Shield on August 11.
