Wigan Athletic's new signing Fraser Fyvie has revealed that he is hoping to make the first team at the club.
Fyvie made the move to the DW Stadium this summer from Aberdeen in a £500,000 deal.
The midfielder insists that he is determined to keep working hard to impress Roberto Martinez and realises the battle he has on his hands in competing with the club's midfielders.
He told the club's official website: "I'm just trying to get my name in with the manager now because I want to be on that team sheet.
"Obviously the other midfielders in the squad have been playing in the Premier League for a few years now and have adapted to the style of football that the manager wants to play.
"They're all top players and some of them are even international players so I need to get myself up to their level to claim a first-team place for myself."
The 19-year-old has a final chance to impress in the pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo on Sunday.
