Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has said that his side's 2-0 defeat to Fulham is the hardest that they have had to take all season.
Despite conceding in either half at the DW Stadium, the Latics hit the woodwork twice and managed to create a number of other chances.
The loss is Wigan's seventh consecutive league defeat, but Martinez does not think that the results reflect the performances.
"It is probably the most difficult one (loss) to take because obviously you always work throughout the week to try to perform well and after the game you can look at the stats and a little bit sometimes the stats reflect how the performance went," he told Sky Sports News.
"We created eight corners - we restricted Fulham to none - and then the amount of chances, it's hard to explain from a technical and tactical point of view how we lost that game 2-0.
"It's a difficult run but in many ways you are looking at the stats of the game and I think it will be very, very hard to explain how we lost that game."
The result has kept Martinez's side rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.
