Shaun Maloney has told his Wigan Athletic teammates that they will have to build on their 1-0 win against Manchester United if they are to avoid relegation.
The Scot's goal on Wednesday night helped the Latics to record a first victory over United in their history.
Despite the triumph at the DW Stadium, Maloney believes that the side needs to win three of their last five games in order to survive the drop.
"Wednesday was an historic night for the club as it was the first time we beat United," he said. "But it's more important that we stay out of the bottom three come the end of the season.
"We're going to have to win more games than this to stay up. The teams down there are producing results because it's all on the line.
"We've five games left. Ideally, if you win three of them you will be close to staying up. It's easy saying that — now we need to do it."
Wigan will be looking to cause an upset when they travel to Arsenal in the league on Monday night.
