Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez believes that his side's "character" helped them beat Norwich City and move out of the relegation zone.
Arouna Kone scored the only goal of the game in the second half at the DW Stadium.
Martinez told BBC Sport: "Today was about character - the players worked extremely hard. We stopped Norwich from having a shot on target.
"We weren't at our most fluent or sharpest, but found a way to win. The win was down to the character of the team."
Wigan are now 17th in the Premier League and are out of the drop zone on goal difference.
