Uwe Rosler has revealed that Wigan Athletic have begun talks with Ben Watson over a possible new contract.
The Latics manager admits that he would like to keep hold of the 28-year-old and that preliminary negotiations have been positive.
"We've had talks with Ben's agent over a new contract, but we're not there so far. I did get the impression he'd like to stay and we would certainly like him to stay," Rosler told the Wigan Evening Post.
"We will make Ben an attractive offer, but there is a limit. He's at a good age in terms of the fact he's got some good years in front of him.
"Within 10 days, I said I wanted to continue working with him. So it's up to him now."
Watson's current deal expires in the summer.
