Wigan Athletic look likely to beat Fulham and Norwich City to the signing of Aberdeen wonderkid Fraser Fyvie.
Latics manager Roberto Martinez has reportedly convinced the central midfielder to make the move to the DW Stadium ahead of their Premier League rivals.
The 19-year-old's contract at Pittodrie expires in December and, with the youngster deciding against a renewal, the Scottish side will reluctantly sell this summer.
A fee of around £600,000 is rumoured to be the asking price for the player, who has seemingly made his mind up on the move.
"I need to go to progress my career," claimed Fyvie.
"I feel it's the right time for me to try my luck elsewhere and see what happens.
"I may be taking a big gamble, but sometimes you have to take a risk. I feel I want to go and challenge myself."
Fyvie has made 66 appearances for Aberdeen, scoring three goals.
