Blackburn Rovers lead 1-0 at the break in their relegation six-pointer with Wolverhampton Wanderers, courtesy of Junior Hoilett.
It was Wolves who started the match the stronger and teenager David Davis, making his first start, found Kevin Doyle with a cross after five minutes, but the Irish striker headed over from close range.
The home side again went close moments later after good work from Steven Fletcher, but he could not find Matthew Jarvis with his low cross.
Blackburn began to exert some pressure as the half progressed, however, and Yakubu came close with a volley after good work from Mauro Formica after 11 minutes.
The away side again went close moments later via Formica, but his effort drifted just wide.
Wolves gained control of possession in the latter stages of the half, but it was Blackburn who continued to create the better openings, with Morten Gamst Pedersen proving a constant threat.
Blackburn took the lead after 43 minutes when Hoilett found the bottom corner after a throw from Pedersen, to give the away side a half-time lead.
