Bruno Lage confirms Rayan Ait Nouri injury blow

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Bruno Lage confirms that Rayan Ait Nouri will miss out against Southampton due to concussion protocol.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Bruno Lage has confirmed that Rayan Ait Nouri will not be able to feature against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

The left-back featured from the first whistle against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup on Wednesday but was forced to leave the field after 75 minutes due to a suspected head injury.

It was initially unclear as to whether Ait Nouri would have been available for the trip to the South Coast, but Lage has now confirmed that the 20-year-old will not make the cut due to concussion protocol.

When giving a team update in his pre-match press conference, Lage was quoted as saying by the Express & Star: "Ait-Nouri will be out for seven days. [Yerson] Mosquera has a muscle injury, not in the same area."

Marcal should therefore return to his regular role on the left-hand side against Southampton, while Pedro Neto and Jonny remain sidelined with long-term injuries. body check tags ::
