Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle has claimed that his "feelings" towards former manager Mick McCarthy didn't change despite being snubbed from the regular first team.
The 28-year-old stated that McCarthy's departure from Molineux has been difficult on the players.
"I didn't play for probably the last month but it didn't change my feelings towards the manager," said Doyle.
"I still respected him 100% and wanted to do well for him. Players wanted to do well for him and that makes it a bit harder when he does have to leave.
"We all respected him massively and got on with him as a person and not just as a manager."
Wolves are currently on the hunt for a new manager, with Alan Curbishley the favourite to take the helm at the Premier League side.
