Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Dave Edwards admits that manager Kenny Jackett is in an "unfortunate situation".

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Dave Edwards has described Kenny Jackett's uncertain position at the helm of the Midlands side as "unfortunate".

During his three seasons with the club, Jackett helped Wolves to the League One title and took them within a whisker of the Championship playoff places, but looks set to lose his job and be replaced by Julen Lopetegui when Chinese billionaire Robin Li completes a £40m takeover.

Edwards - one of Wolves' longest-serving senior players and a member of Wales's Euro 2016 campaign - admitted that the situation is "not easy" but insisted that the club are continuing with their pre-season preparations as normal.

"As a player you've just got to put it to one side and concentrate on each training session," he told Sky Sports News. "We've got to believe nothing's going to change and we'll concentrate on what we usually do.

"It's not as easy for the board and manager with all that talk going on. The manager is wanting to sign players and is unable to with all this going on.

"It's a really unfortunate situation for the manager."

Meanwhile, Jackett has admitted that he is 'concerned' by the club's lack of transfer activity and the speculation over his future.
