Bert Williams MBE, who was the oldest living England international footballer, has died at the age of 93 at Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital.
The former goalkeeper was England's number one at the 1950 World Cup finals and made 420 appearances for Wolverhampton Wanderers, winning the 1949 FA Cup during his 14-year spell at Molineux.
"Legend is a word which may be over-used these days, but in the case of Bert Williams it simply doesn't do him justice," Wolves chairman Steve Morgan told the club's official website.
"He will be sadly missed at Molineux, but will never, ever be forgotten."
Williams also played for Walsall.
