Adam le Fondre: 'I'm not at Wolverhampton Wanderers to sit on bench'

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Adam le Fondre aims to secure a regular playing berth at Molineux by "scoring crucial goals" for the club.

Adam le Fondre has insisted that he is not at Wolverhampton Wanderers to simply make up the numbers.

The 28-year-old joined Wanderers on loan from Championship rivals Cardiff City earlier this month following a barren spell in South Wales.

Having failed to make a mark at his parent club, Le Fondre - who played the full 90 minutes as Wolves beat Barnet 2-1 in the League Cup on Tuesday - is now determined to win a first-team place at Molineux.

"I've not come here to sit on the bench and just be a happy camper," he is quoted as saying by the Express & Star. "I've come to play games and score goals and win.

"I'm about scoring goals and scoring crucial goals, that's what I've done at every club in my career apart from maybe Cardiff. If you don't have competition you have settled places and don't really go anywhere, so I'm going to strive to get in the team and hopefully my performances will keep me there.

"I've not played too much since I've been here but I didn't have too many pre-season friendlies and I've had a knock from last season which has carried on to this season but I got through okay [against Barnet] and we'll go from there."

Next up for Le Fondre and Wolves is a home clash against Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon.
