Wolves stay top of League One at the expense of Brentford, while Tranmere boost their survival hopes.

Wolverhampton Wanderers remained at the summit of League One despite being held to a 0-0 draw with Shrewsbury Town at Molineux this afternoon.

Kenny Jackett's men, who surrendered a nine-game winning streak in the process, hold a one-point lead over Brentford after the Bees managed a 1-0 win away to Leyton Orient in the day's early kickoff.

James Henry went closest for the hosts in the first half but he failed to find the net with Ethan Ebanks-Landell's cut-back pass.

Wolves were fortunate to have gained a point after Town striker Tom Eaves fired straight at goalkeeper Carl Ikeme in the closing stages.

Rotherham United missed the chance to leapfrog fourth-placed Preston North End after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to 10-man Walsall.

Milan Lalkovic's 19th-minute strike was the difference between the sides for the majority of the encounter.

However, Ben Purkiss's second yellow card on 73 minutes handed United the impetus, and they took advantage of their numerical advantage in the closing stages as Nicky Adams fired a late equaliser.

Despite dropping two points, Rotherham remain eight points clear of Peterborough United who occupy the final playoff place.

Britt Assombalonga struck a second-half brace as Posh registered a 2-0 win away to MK Dons and moved six points clear of Karl Robinson's men in the process.

Elsewhere, Tranmere Rovers moved out of the relegation zone courtesy of a 3-2 win over bottom-placed Notts County at Prenton Park.

Ronan Murray had fired the visitors into a 1-0 lead, only for Rovers to overhaul the advantage mid-way through the first half with goals from Jason Koumas and Ryan Lowe in quick succession.

Alan Sheehan missed a penalty for County moments later before atoning for his error in the second half with a 30-yard free kick.

However, there was more drama as Steve Jennings thumped home a 84th-minute winner to breathe fresh life into Tranmere's survival bid.
