Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Matt Doherty has admitted that he was desperate to take his chance in the first team after spending time out of the side earlier this season.
On Tuesday night, Doherty netted the winning goal against Bristol City as Wolves made it successive victories at Molineux, and the full-back has said that he is determined to perform at his best for the remaining 10 games of the Championship campaign.
The 24-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "That's what happens when you're in the team and get successive games.
"I was out of it quite a bit at the start of the season which was frustrating, I thought when I get in I'm going to do my best not to let it go, even though I was at left-back.
"I've done that so far hopefully. I always back myself, as every player does."
Wolves host Birmingham City on Sunday afternoon as they look to string together a run of wins in order to mount a late bid for the playoffs.
