Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo acknowledges that Raul Jimenez deserves 'a couple of days off' after an exhausting summer with club and country.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted that Raul Jimenez will be given 'a couple of days off' during the international break.

As a result of representing Mexico at the Gold up in the summer, Jimenez had minimal recovery time before being involved in Wolves' qualifying fixtures for the Europa League.

Speaking ahead of Wolves' 2-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday, Nuno has acknowledged that the forward would be given a short period of recuperation before the club's next outing against Southampton on October 19.

The Portuguese is quoted by the Birmingham Mail as saying: "It is something that we already predicted. We knew he had to come earlier, after he was with Mexico he came and did fantastic. Now is the right moment, so it is good that he doesn't go with his national team so he will be able to help us here.

"Maybe I will give him a couple of days to disconnect, but it is not about stopping. We cannot stop. No player can stop totally, you always have to do some training sessions, adapt it to the moment that we want, and he will do that."

Jimenez has made 13 starts and two substitute outings in all competitions this season, scoring eight goals.
