Wolves striker Sam Vokes has said that competition among the club's forwards is "fierce" after the side's strong start to the season.
The 21-year-old scored the Wanderers' eighth goal of the season so far against Northampton Town in midweek, extending the club's winning start in both league and cup competition to three games.
"We've had a great start to the season with six points from two tough games and the strikers have done well by scoring the goals, so competition for places if fierce at the moment," he told Sky Sports News.
The West Midlands outfit are on the road against Alex McLeish's undefeated Aston Villa this weekend, but Vokes insists that the club are confident.
"I'm just looking forward to the weekend and hoping that my performance midweek earns me a place in the squad.
"It is a big game, with it being a local derby again, but we've shown how strong we are in the past couple of games and hopefully we can come back with the right result."
The Wales international has had limited opportunities since arriving at Molineux from Bournemouth in 2008, having spent much of last season on loan at Sheffield United.
