Stale Solbakken blames Steve Morgan

Stale Solbakken believes that chairman Steve Morgan is responsible for Wolverhampton Wanderers being on the brink of relegation to League One.

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Stale Solbakken has blamed chairman Steve Morgan for the club's poor season in the Championship.

The team must beat Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend and hope that other results go in their favour if they are to avoid a second successive relegation.

However, Solbakken, who was appointed to the helm last summer and then sacked in January this year, has insisted that Morgan should shoulder most of the responsibility for the club's plight.

"I have no confidence in the owner. He's a fantastic businessman and he could be a good owner if he had someone competent to deal with the footballing side of things," the Express & Star quotes him as saying.

"Morgan hired me because he wanted to build a new culture, create a new identity and make sure the club wasn't ridiculed if given another chance in the Premier League.

"It was surprising that he thought this would be done in 15 minutes. My intention was to build a team over three transfer windows and get the right balance in the squad. But he got tired and went back to the previous culture. It still hurts."

Meanwhile, chief executive Jez Moxey apologised to the supporters earlier today for the team's performances this season.
