Wolves right-back Richard Stearman has said his side will turn around their recent run of bad results with a win over Black Country rivals West Brom on Sunday.

Last season Wolves gained points from five out of six Midlands derbies and in the equivalent trip to the Hawthorns, led 1-0 until Carlos Vela found the net for the Baggies in the 92nd minute.

"We're very confident we can repeat what we did last year and pick up points from the teams from the Midlands," Stearman, 24, told the Wolves website. "We want to do that again.

"We were unlucky at Albion last year, holding out til the death when they popped up with a goal."

Manager Mick McCarthy has been pleased with the overall performance of his side despite the losses, and Stearman thinks a tighter defence is key to earning points.

"We seem to be conceding a few sloppy [goals] and that is putting pressure on us at the other end," he added. "That's what we are working towards cutting out. We have done a lot of defensive work these past couple of weeks and hopefully we are going to get that right now."

Kickoff at The Hawthorns is at midday on Sunday.
