Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva has suggested that he jumped at the chance to work with PSV Eindhoven head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy for the remainder of the season.

After spending the first two years of his time at Molineux in and out of the starting lineup, the Portugal Under-21 international was allowed to go out on loan to Anderlecht last summer.

Silva enjoyed a productive period with the Belgian outfit, making 22 starts in top flight and Europa Conference League group-stage fixtures and scoring eight goals.

However, during January, it was claimed that disagreements behind the scenes had led to the 20-year-old requesting a move elsewhere, something Wolves were open to providing that they could reach an agreement with Anderlecht.

Silva subsequently linked up with PSV on loan, effectively being signed as the replacement for Cody Gakpo, although his first four outings have all come from the substitutes' bench.

During his 56 minutes on the pitch, Silva has one goal to his name, netting during the 6-0 triumph over FC Groningen at the weekend.

Despite having yet to make a start for the Dutch giants, Silva has talked up the opportunity to represent PSV, as well as play under Manchester United legend Van Nistelrooy.

Over a career which saw him represent seven clubs and play 70 times for the Netherlands, Van Nistelrooy scored 384 goals in all competitions.

Speaking to reporters, as quoted by Voetbal International, the youngster said: "During our first meeting, we talked for 15 minutes about how I shoot the ball. I've learned so much from that already, from one of the best strikers in the world ever. And I can do that as a 20-year-old.

"Of course I want to play every minute, but I also try to look at what I can learn from the training sessions and the matches. Luuk de Jong (teammate) played for the best teams in the world, at Sevilla and Barcelona.

"So I have a coach who was one of the best strikers ever and also a top striker as a fellow player. To me that is incredible."

Having signed a new contract before his move to Anderlecht, Silva still has just under three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract with Wolves.

Depending on the long-term futures of Raul Jimenez and Diego Costa, head coach Julen Lopetegui may look to keep Silva in his first-team squad next season should Wolves remain in the Premier League. body check tags ::
