Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Walter Zenga has said that Tuesday night's EFL Cup fixture with Newcastle United represented the right time for Silvio and Ola John to make their debuts for the club.
Both players have struggled for fitness since moving to Molineux in the summer but they both featured as Wolves lost 2-0 at St James' Park.
The 56-year-old told the club's official website: "Silvio was injured up until 10 days ago, and his last game had been in May, and Ola John signed in the last week of August, and his last game was also in May.
"It was the right time to see them play and understand what they can do because you can see it in training but it is not the same as the games.
"Sometimes you have to see them play, and it was not a risk because we have full trust in all our players."
Wolves are next in action when they host Brentford in the Championship on Saturday.
