Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers drop points as Hull City leave Molineux with a 2-2 draw.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been held to a 2-2 draw by Hull City in Tuesday night's Championship encounter at Molineux.

The hosts began brightly as Barry Douglas's early free kick into the box was headed goalwards by Romain Saiss, but Allan McGregor was able to make the save.

At the other end, David Meyler managed to latch on to a loose ball inside the Wolves area but could not make the most of the opportunity as he skewed his shot off target.

Nuno Espirito Santo's charges went on to take the lead on 18 minutes when Michael Hector brought Diogo Jota down in the box for a penalty, which the Portuguese duly slotted past McGregor.

Hull were level on 38 minutes, however, with Roderick Miranda tugging back Meyler for a spot kick of their own, and as with the hosts' opener, the Irishman made no mistake from 12 yards.

The Tigers improved after the restart, with Ola Aina coming close on two separate occasions, but Wolves more than matched them in terms of attacking endeavour with efforts from Benik Afobe and Jota.

Indeed, Hull went on to take the lead on 79 minutes when Kamil Grosicki's low cross was diverted into the hosts' net by Ryan Bennett.

However, the Championship leaders were level just a minute later, Oskar Buur marking his league debut for Wolves with a powerful header beyond the reach of McGregor, for a share of the spoils.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (3-4-3): Ruddy; Miranda (Afobe 46'), Coady, Boly; Bennett, Saiss, N'Diaye (Gibbs-White 77'), Douglas; Costa, Jota (Rasmussen 70'), Cavaleiro

HULL CITY (4-2-3-1): McGregor; Tomori, Hector, MacDonald, Clark; Henriksen, Meyler; Aina, Toral (Irvine 61'), Kingsley (Campbell 70'); Dicko (Grosicki 65')
