Kenny Jackett has insisted that "the door is still open" for Kevin Doyle at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Reports earlier this summer suggested that following their relegation to League One, Wolves were keen to ease their wage bill by selling the Republic of Ireland striker.
However, having returned to training with the senior side, Jackett has revealed that Doyle could still turn out in a gold shirt this season.
"He trained with the main group on Sunday morning and yesterday," the Express & Star quotes Jackett as saying. "A couple of our match days he's been training with the ones left because we've either gone away or there's been an Under-21 game.
"He needed to get ticking over and working and where he is now, he needs games because he's missed matches. If he's fit, available and he's the right person on that particular day, the door is still open."
Wolves paid a reported club-record £6.5m for the 29-year-old in 2009.
