Kenny Jackett: 'We want Kevin McDonald to stay at Wolverhampton Wanderers'

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett suggests that Kevin McDonald could stay at the club and play out the last year of his contract.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has insisted that he does want Kevin McDonald to remain at the club for the 2015-16 season.

McDonald, 26, has a year left on his current contract and has failed to reach an agreement on a new deal this summer, saying that the initial offer he received made him feel unwanted.

Fellow Championship side Fulham are believed to have tabled a bid for the Scot, but it was reportedly turned down earlier this month.

Jackett admitted today on the club website that the midfielder could move on this summer, but also felt that he could stay and play out the final year of his contract if a new agreement isn't reached.

"He hasn't agreed a contract although we've offered him one, so I suppose yes there is (a chance he could stay). If he doesn't sign the contract offered then it is running down.

"There are three possibilities - he signs a new contract, he runs his contract down or he moves.

"Everybody at Wolves, in an ideal world, would want him to stay."

McDonald has made 91 appearances for Wolves since joining from Sheffield United in 2013 and was the only member of their squad to feature in every Championship match last season.
