Valencia have confirmed that winger Goncalo Guedes is signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Premier League outfit have endured somewhat of a disappointing summer with just one new face being brought to the club.
The solitary defensive addition of Nathan Collins has come at the same time that Bruno Lage has been left without a recognised centre-forward, a consequence of a knee injury to Raul Jimenez and Fabio Silva being loaned out to Anderlecht.
However, Wolves have attempted to rectify the situation with the big-money acquisition of Guedes, who according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is moving to the English side for a fee in excess of €30m with add-ons.
The Portugal international has been a long-term target of the West Midlands outfit, partly due to the club having previously signed a number of players who are represented by agent Jorge Mendes.
A Valencia statement read: "Valencia CF and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC have reached an agreement this Monday August 8th for the transfer of Goncalo Guedes to the English club.
"Goncalo Guedes joined Valencia CF in 2017 from Paris Saint-Germain and played 198 games in all competitions, in which he scored 40 goals and provided 32 assists.
"His first match for the club was on September 9, 2017 against Atletico Madrid, and in 2019 he was part of the side that won the Copa del Rey.
"The club thank him for his professionalism as a Valencia CF player and wish him the best of luck in this new stage of his career.
Guedes' most productive season came during 2021-22, with 11 strikes and six assists coming from 33 outings in La Liga.
Although the 25-year-old is best known for his work on either flank, he has experience of being deployed down the centre, something that Lage will look to take advantage of during the absence of Jimenez.
From Valencia's perspective, they have been under pressure to boost their financial position with the sale of their key asset, who has been linked with a departure for a number of transfer windows.
The Spanish side also announced on Monday that goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen had been allowed to sign for NEC Nijmegen. body check tags ::
